Scope
What we can and cannot help with
The line is not about willingness. It is about what an information site is in a position to know.
Corrections are the most useful thing anyone sends. Every figure here is traceable to an instrument, which means an error is findable — and the fastest way to find one is somebody reading the page against the document. If you are writing about a figure, the reply is much quicker if you say which page it was on, what it said, and what you believe the correct position is. A citation to the provision or the gazette is ideal; where an instrument has been amended or a proclamation has moved since we read it, that is exactly the kind of thing an individual reader notices before we do.
What we cannot do is look at your case. Not because of a policy, but because there is nothing to look at: this site holds no records, has no connection to any issuing authority, municipality, court or licensing office, and does not ask for a notice reference, an identity number, a licence number or a number plate. It could not check your position even if you sent one, and it will not guess at it from a description. The authority on your matter is the body named on the paperwork you were sent.
Genuinely welcome
- A correction — a figure, a citation, a provision that has moved.
- A source we have missed, especially a primary one. The gazette parts carrying the schedule of offences are the single most useful thing anyone could send.
- A question about how this site works, or about a page that reads unclearly.
What we cannot do
- Advise on your own matter. This site is information, not legal advice.
- Look anything up for you. We hold no records and ask for no identifiers.
- Tell you what an authority or a court will decide. Nobody honestly can.
